Rainbow Teeth? Yes, Really

Here in America, we spend a whopping $1.5 billion annually in our pursuit of whiter teeth. From chewing gum that promises to get teeth whiter to pastes, LED lights, trays, strips and even in-office treatments, there is a product at every price point to get those pearly whites pearly-whiter. But a new trend is sweeping social media that has a lot of people scratching their heads.

It’s called Chrom Tooth Polish, but it doesn’t buff and shine the teeth like you might think. Instead, according to the Chrom website, it acts like nail polish – that’s right, nail polish for the teeth. In fact, the site even refers to the teeth as “32 little blank canvases!”

Currently, Chrom Tooth Polish comes in 10 fashionable colors like Baby Blue, Candy Floss, Gold Dust and Sunshine, a buttery yellow shade most of us would pay $1.5 billion to get rid of.

So, what’s up with the trend? Who would actually want rainbow-colored teeth? Well, if social media sites like Instagram are any indication, trendsetters and models. But before you issue an all-out ban on letting your own kids try the trend, it should be comforting to know that unlike nail polish, Chrom is safe to put in your mouth, and it only lasts about 24 hours before it disappears forever, hopefully without a trace.

It also won’t smudge, come off during meals, or leave a strange flavor in your mouth.

If you or your child would like to try the Chrom Tooth Polish trend, make sure you follow the instructions on the bottle (which will run you $20 each) and apply them to clean teeth so you aren’t trapping plaque and bacteria underneath the polish itself.

Aside from the “coloring your teeth” part, it sounds pretty great, right? Now if they’d only come out with white!
