Affordable Tooth Whitening

Tooth Whitening Dentistry In Fort Collins. One of the simplest and most affordable ways to enhance your smile is to have your teeth whitened. There are several options when it comes to tooth whitening systems. You can choose from a selection of over-the-counter tooth whitening products at your local drug store, or you can trust the Fort Collins Dentist.

Your Dentist Knows Your Teeth

It is wise to consult with your dentist before using OTC tooth whitening products. Your dentist knows your teeth and dental history and can recommend the tooth-bleaching product most appropriate for you.

There are many variables when it comes to tooth whitening. The color of your teeth at the beginning of your treatment will impact the end result. Other considerations include existing cosmetic dentistry such as crowns and dental bonding, gum health, and tooth sensitivity. We have experience treating tooth discoloration and understand the benefits and disadvantages of the available methods.

Your dentist may present a tooth whitening solution that you can take home with you. In some cases, your dentist may recommend a professional treatment that is done at the dentist’s office. Professional tooth whitening can provide significant results in a single treatment but is often done over a few treatments.

A Whiter Smile Without Breaking the Bank

Tooth whitening is less expensive than it was in the earlier days of tooth whitening technology. Today, tooth whitening treatments are very economical. If you are interested in tooth whitening and live in the Fort Collins area, please call the Fort Collins Dentist Family & Implant Dentistry to make an appointment for a tooth whitening consultation.

5 Tools For Tooth Transformations

porcelain veneers price Loveland

Too-small teeth. Misshapen teeth. Cracked teeth. Chipped teeth. Spacing irregularities. These problems are all too common. But you don’t have to live with them! With the advances in cosmetic dentistry, the Fort Collins Dentist has fixes for these vexing tooth issues!

1. Veneers. (Also called dental laminates or porcelain veneers). These extremely thin shells are custom-made so the size, shape, and color are perfectly matched to your surrounding teeth. The veneers are securely cemented to the front of the teeth to dramatically upgrade your smile.

2. Bonding. This procedure uses a strong tooth-colored resin to close spaces, repair chips and cracks, or change the shape. The resin is molded into place and then a light is applied to harden the material for secure adherence to the tooth.

3. Recontouring. Minimally-invasive reshaping of a tooth by removing small bits of enamel to improve the shape or length. This cosmetic dentistry procedure is sometimes called odontoplasty or slenderizing.

4. Crowns. Most people are familiar with this durable multi-purpose restoration. Natural-looking dental crowns are fabricated in the shape and color of the tooth and cemented into place to fully cover the part of the tooth visible above the gumline.

5. Braces. Patients of all ages are transforming their smiles with cutting-edge orthodontia. Before you dismiss this option as too time-consuming or costly, learn about the new braces now available. Braces are more convenient and discrete than ever before.

Countless Loveland dental patients have achieved beautiful smiles with a cosmetic dental smile makeover from The Fort Collins Dentist Family & Implant Dentistry!

We Understand Dental Anxiety

Enjoy sedation dentistry in Fort Collins.

Dental professionals in the Fort Collins area (including the team at the Fort Collins Dentist) are dedicated to oral health. Unfortunately, some individuals rarely go to the dentist. Others have the misconception that you only need to go to the dentist when you have a toothache.

In addition, there are those who have severe dental anxiety. Perhaps you fall into this category.

Dental anxiety is real, we get it.

If you are apprehensive about dental visits, here are a few guidelines that may help ease you into scheduled dental checkups. Certainly, enriched oral health will elevate your quality of life.

Choose a dentist you can trust.

We understand how difficult it can be to seek dental treatment. That’s why we make sure patients are comfortable before we examine their teeth. First, we ask you many questions. We want to get to know you, and help you get to know us. Communication builds a connection. A connection leads to a trusting relationship.

The more we know about you, the easier we can help you.

Be prepared to provide us with important information about your lifestyle and health. Many individuals are intimidated at a dentist’s office. Because of this, they may hesitate to disclose sensitive issues.

We are here to help, regardless of your history or oral condition.

There is nothing in your past that we haven’t dealt with. Neglecting oral health. Drug use. Eating disorders. Regardless of your history, we have helped patients with similar issues.

In order to help you, we need complete accurate information. Bring notes if you are worried that you will forget something.

Also, during treatment, tell us what you are experiencing so we can help you feel more relaxed. If we find that you are going to need a dental procedure more extensive than filling a cavity, let’s discuss sleep dentistry.

Oral sedation is safe and effective.

The most important thing to know is that oral conscious sedation or sleep dentistry is perfectly safe. At The Fort Collins Dentist Family & Implant Dentistry, we have been providing sedation since 2016. We offer different levels of sedation and a choice of medication including oral analgesics, nitrous oxide, and IV sedation.

At The Fort Collins Dentist Family & Implant Dentistry, our compassionate staff will work to make your visit as pleasant as possible.

Keeping You Comfortable

Enjoy the benefits of sleep dentistry in Loveland.

At the Fort Collins Dentist Family & Implant Dentistry, we make a conscious effort to help our patients feel comfortable. Though our chairs are cushy as can be, we are not only talking about physical comfort here. We are talking about emotional comfort. In other words, peace of mind.

Here are four ways we are enthusiastic about your peace of mind:

1. We don’t judge you. Doctor Allison Lesko has devoted a professional career to promoting oral health and creating beautiful smiles.

The friendly dental team at The Fort Collins Dentist Family & Implant Dentistry is here to help you, regardless of the state of your teeth. We have treated patients with severe tooth neglect, advanced gum disease, enamel erosion caused by eating disorders, tooth damage caused by illegal drug use, baby bottle tooth decay, tobacco-stained teeth: basically, every imaginable dental problem. We don’t live in a bubble. We understand and empathize with our patients.

2. We protect you from pain. From topical analgesics to oral conscious sedation, we will eliminate or minimize pain as best we can. doctor Lesko is a pro at administering barely noticeable injections.

3. We help you with your dental anxiety. Fear of the dentist is far more common than you might realize and certainly nothing to be ashamed of. The perceived loss of control, instruments poking in your mouth, and teeth being worked on are not pleasant. Some individuals get claustrophobic because they need to lie still in the chair for treatment.

Sleep dentistry (oral conscious sedation) not only helps with pain management, it allows you to sleep through your appointment. There are different levels of sedation, so you don’t have to be completely unconscious unless you want to be. If you would like more specifics about sedation, call 970-221-5115 to schedule a consultation. We can talk about the different levels of oral conscious sedation so you can select the one that is best for you.

4. We communicate with you.
Doctor Lesko has established a reputation as an effective and compassionate communicator. Procedures are thoroughly explained and all your vital questions will be answered prior to treatment. If you are not sure you want to initiate treatment, we are happy to let you think about it for a while. There is no rush.

If you have postponed dental treatment for any reason, we encourage you to give Doctor Lesko and the team at The Fort Collins Dentist Family & Implant Dentistry a try. Neglecting your oral health has serious consequences. Call today to schedule an appointment. We look forward to meeting you.

The Fort Collins Dentist Family & Implant Dentistry Performs Emergency Root Canals

Colorado Dentist Calms Root Canal Fears. At The Fort Collins Dentist Family & Implant Dentistry, we perform emergency root canals. Though this procedure strikes fear into the hearts of many individuals, they should be more afraid of not having a root canal.

What is a root canal?

When a tooth becomes badly infected or decayed, our qualified dental team can fix it.

First, we clean the inside of the tooth by removing the bacteria, soft tissue (called pulp), decayed nerve tissue, and any debris that may be causing the tooth infection from the inside of the tooth.

The dentist will then seal the tooth to prevent further cavities and finish by applying a crown or filling. This is the process and purpose of a root canal. The process can be completed, typically, in one or two visits. In many cases, a root canal procedure is a better option than removing the infected tooth since it allows the patient to keep their natural tooth.

Are all teeth at risk?

Teeth that are more prone to requiring a root canal are cracked or chipped, have received repeated dental procedures, have been damaged by trauma to the face, or are suffering from deep tooth decay. Wearing a mouth guard can help prevent damage sustained to teeth and practicing good oral hygiene habits, such as daily flossing and brushing, coupled with regular dental visits, can reduce the possibility of needing a root canal.

Though a root canal can be intimidating or scary, educating yourself and talking to your dentist can relieve much of your anxiety. Root canals are often not painful, and for many individuals, the pain of the infection experienced beforehand is worse than any pain that might be experienced during the procedure.

Because teeth with infected pulp tissue often do not produce symptoms, it is critical to have regular dental examinations. Your dentist can determine which (if any) teeth have infected roots. If the infection in the soft pulp tissue is left untreated, it can progress to a point where the tooth cannot be saved.

Affordable Teeth Whitening?

Affordable Tooth Whitening in Fort Collins. If you are like most web users, you have probably observed the multitude of ads for ‘free teeth whitening kits’.

Some show a ‘real Wellington mom’ who discovered a ‘tooth whitening secret’. Others assure you that their system is the one that ‘Fort Collins dentists don’t want you to know about’. Many contain a link to a page that contains a convincing tooth-whitening testimonial. They bolster their legitimacy by aligning themselves with respected companies such as CNN, USA Today, and Forbes.

Unfortunately, most of these are fraudulent. In a recent article, the Better Business Bureau explains the scam:

The countless websites for various teeth whitening products claim to offer a no-risk, money-back guarantee, and free trial of the product. To sign up, customers must provide a credit or debit card number to cover shipping. Complainants to BBB state that they are billed before their trial ends and continue to be billed after they have told the company they want to cancel.

Complainants also may find mystery charges for other companies and services that they didn’t realize they were signing up for with their ‘free’ trial.

The BBB has received complaints about the following company/product names:

  • Dazzle White
  • White Smile
  • Teeth Smile
  • Dazzle Smile
  • Ivory White
  • Max White
  • My Whitening
  • Gleaming White Smile
  • Advanced Wellness Research

Don’t trust your smile to an internet scammer. Your tooth whitening dental office is the only place for safe teeth bleaching. You don’t want to take a chance with your credit card number or your tooth enamel! Call us at The Fort Collins Dentist Family & Implant Dentistry for advanced cosmetic dentistry and worry-free tooth whitening. You can reach us at 970-221-5115

Fun Floss Facts

Get convenient dental care in Fort Collins.

You probably believe that the most urgent aspect regarding flossing is simply to do it every day. At the Fort Collins Dentist, we agree. However, many people find that trying out a few different types of floss helps them to establish or solidify the habit and get the flossing comfort they desire.

Let’s discuss some of the most common types of dental floss.

Basic floss is either a monofilament floss, which is often made of some kind of rubber or plastic, or multifilament, which is made of nylon or silk. Nylon floss is less pricey, more common, and is sold waxed or unwaxed.

Monofilament floss will not rip or tear, and because of this, many people find that it pulls in between the teeth more easily. This type of floss is typically referred to as “glide” floss.

Both monofilament floss and multifilament floss are sold in differing thicknesses. It is beneficial to find the size that works best for you. Since you should not have to snap the floss between your teeth, find the thickness that allows you to gently floss.

Dental tape is nylon floss in the form of a wide, flat ribbon. Many patients at the Fort Collins Dentist find that dental tape is the easiest floss to get between their teeth.

For those of you with braces or appliances, there are also flosses designed to be used with these devices. Make sure to communicate with your orthodontist about flossing because you don’t want to break this vital habit just because you’re having your teeth corrected!

A good person to give you advice about flossing is your dental hygienist. Here at The Fort Collins Dentist Family & Implant Dentistry, our proficient hygienists are prepared to answer any questions you have about flossing, brushing habits, and even cosmetic dentistry procedures such as teeth bleaching and veneers.

My name is Doctor Allison Lesko. My practice, The Fort Collins Dentist Family & Implant Dentistry, has been serving the Fort Collins area since 2016. Our top services include cosmetic dentistry, dental implants, and general dentistry.

The ADA: Promoting Dental Health Since 1859

American Dental Association and your Fort Collins Dentist.

Hello, thank you for visiting the Fort Collins Dentist Family & Implant Dentistry blog. I’m Doctor Allison Lesko. Along with my fantastic team, I have been providing premium dental care since 2016.

Today’s article is about the American Dental Association. You have probably seen the ADA insignia on toothpaste and floss—but what else do you know about this dental organization?

The ADA’s self-proclaimed objective is to improve the level of public oral health by supporting the dental industry through not-for-profit federal, state, and local societies. It was established in 1859 and is run by its members, which currently total over 160,000.

The ADA Seal of Acceptance is not an endorsement of a product per se but rather a confirmation of the claims made by said product. Companies who want the ADA certification for a product must submit proof of rigorous scientific testing. Once submitted, the ADA re-tests the product to further verify results. There are currently over 300 products with ADA certification.

The ADA does more than evaluate dental products. Here are some other ways the ADA works to fulfill its mission:

  • Provides resources to support dentists and their practices
  • Educates the public about oral health
  • Works to maximize access to dental care
  • Offers guidance on important issues that affect the dental industry
  • Collaborates with other organizations on scientific research projects and public health initiatives
  • Offers scholarships to dental students

Health Habits To Keep You Smiling

Essential habits to keep teeth healthy in Fort Collins.

In today’s post, we will focus on important behaviors that influence oral health. Of course, at the Fort Collins Dentist, we know effective brushing and flossing are two critical habits for healthy teeth, but there are many more things we can do to maintain a healthy smile.

Diet Do’s

  • Do eat a nutritious diet with a variety of foods. This is needed for overall physical health and a strong immune system.
  • Do enjoy calcium-rich dairy products like milk, cheese, and yogurt to neutralize acids that are detrimental to enamel.

Diet Don’ts

  • Don’t eat sugary foods. Sugar leads to the production of detrimental cavity-causing acids that weaken enamel and lead to tooth decay.
  • Don’t snack throughout the day. This accelerates plaque production and subjects the teeth to continual contact with acids.
  • Don’t chew on ice. (It really can crack teeth.)
  • Don’t drink energy drinks. They have many substances that are detrimental to teeth.

Other Important Tips

  • Don’t use your teeth as tools. It is smarter to cut that knotted shoelace than to gnaw at it to try to untangle it.
  • Don’t get piercings in or around your mouth.
  • Don’t ignore tooth pain or sensitivity.
  • If you have children, talk to doctor Lesko about water fluoridation. If your municipal water supply is not fluoridated, you may want to give your kids fluoride supplements.
  • Don’t use a medium or hard bristle toothbrush. It can damage gums.
  • If you have an eating disorder—seek professional help ASAP. Bulimia and anorexia are extremely damaging to teeth. (Not to mention the toll they take on the heart and other organs.)

We encourage all of our patients to maintain a lifestyle that maintains dental health as well as overall physical health. At The Fort Collins Dentist Family & Implant Dentistry, we serve the Fort Collins area with exceptional dental care including general and cosmetic dentistry. Ask us about dental implants, sleep apnea, cosmetic dentistry, and sedation dentistry.
